Welcome to Inventing Math. This is a blog site started by myself and Scott Kim (writer, game designer, cognitive scientist and mathematician). It is our hope that other like minded and passionate individuals will join our tribe and write their thoughts here as well. We think it’s time to start over and invent a new approach to teaching and learning of mathematics, not just in America but around the world. With the maturation of technology, computers, mobile devices, and the web it’s time to harness their power as computational and visualization tools to create new teaching paradigms that put that power into the hands of students and guide them through the discovery and exploration process so that not only do they learn mathematics, but so they can participate as beginning mathematicians themselves from the earliest stages in their educational journey. It’s time for useractivity to become a part of the educational vocabulary.

I hope you enjoy this blog site. I know I will.

    Hi Scott,

I read your article on formative assessments and totally agree with you – summative assessments have been overused for a long time and with the use of computer technology, formative assessments can get their share of the pie.

We are a startup based out of India and have been developing a Mathematics formative assessment product – its currently in alpha stage but we are going for a pilot in about 2000 schools soon – I shall be happy to run you through the product which is unique and innovative.

I shall look forward to your revert.
